Master Degree Colleges

Now that your mind is all set on finishing a masters degree program, the next thing you have to do is to enroll in the right educational institution. (1) Any masters degree college or school, or masters degree universities, are an educational institution, since they are built essentially to provide education. But do these three differ in any way?

College: School: University

All these three terms have some Latin origins. The term college from the Latin word, "collegium," which means, "living together under a unified set of rules." (2) University, meanwhile, came from, "universitas magistrorum et scholarium," which can be translated as, "a community of teachers and of scholars." (3) On the other hand, the word school has a more complex history, which started as "skhole," a Greek word which means, "place of lecture." Centuries later, the term came up with its Latin version, and that was, "schola." (4) Given this information, let us proceed to the more specific definitions of each term:

* School- it is the general, somewhat shorter term for any educational institution. (5) A school can be primary, secondary, tertiary, or graduate. Therefore, when you say college or university, you also mean school.

* College- it is a tertiary educational institution, albeit on a smaller scale than a university. (6)

* University- a larger-scale college. Aside from bachelors degrees, it also grants masters and doctors degrees. (7)

Masters Degree Australia

Masters degree schools or masters degree colleges, which in Australia are overseen by the Department of Education, Science and Training or DEST. (8) For a masters degree university or any other masters degree school to operate, it has to be accredited and/or authorized by the DEST first. These institutions can either be a university, a non self-accrediting masters degree program provider, or a self-accrediting masters degree program provider. There are also some factors that distinguish masters degree australia from other masters degree programs worldwide. One of these is the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), which mandates that your skill sets must match the course of your choice. If it doesn't, then you will be drafted for another course program that suits you. (9)
